ABOUT THE SHOW:
One of the most provocative and controversial new musicals of the 21st century, SEE WHAT I WANNA SEE is a musical about lust, greed, murder, faith and redemption and was named by New York Magazine as one of the Best Musicals of 2005 as well as nominated for nine Drama Desk Awards, including Best Musical. It is based on three short stories by the Japanese writer Ryunosuke Akutagawa. In "KESA AND MURITO," set in medieval Japan and performed in the classical Kabuki style, two lovers sing of the ecstasy and torment of their illicit affair. "R SHOMON," set in 1951, New York City, follows the investigation of a horrific crime and the witnesses' contradicting versions of the event. "GLORYDAY," set in present-day New York City, introduces a priest who looses all faith in God after a terrible tragedy strikes the city. Disillussioned and angry, he plays a practical joke, declaring that a big miracle will happen in Central Park. ABOUT THE SHOW:
One of the most uproariously funny musicals in recent years, URINETOWN is a hilarious tale of greed, corruption, love, and revolution in a time when water is worth its weight in gold. In a Gotham-like city, a terrible water shortage, caused by a 20-year draught, has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. The citizens must use public amenities, regulated by a single malevolent company that profits by charging admission for one of humanity's most basic needs. Amid the people, a hero decides he's had enough, and plans a revolution to lead them all to freedom! Inspired by the works of Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill, URINETOWN is an irreverently humorous satire in which no one is safe from scrutiny.
